RN to BS Programs

LPN to RN Program (Associate Degree)

Helene Fuld College of Nursing offers a one-year full-time associate degree program of instruction in nursing and liberal arts and science for adult men and women who are licensed practical nurses.  Twenty-seven quarter credits earned toward the Associate in Applied Science degree in Nursing are established by pre-admission testing and LPN licensure.  Seventy-eight additional quarter credits earned complete degree requirements and qualify the graduate to take the National Council of State Boards of Nursing NCLEX-RN exam and apply for licensure as a registered nurse.

The calendar year is divided into four quarters.  Each quarter is ten weeks long.  Course descriptions are listed in this catalog in 75-minute sessions instead of the more traditional 50-minute hour (See pages 75 - 81).  The required program of studies can be completed in four quarter-terms within one calendar year.  A student can extend the program to one and a half or two years by carrying a reduced course load.  Part-time students must complete the program within three years.  Classes are admitted twice a year, in November and April.

RN to BS Program (Bachelor Degree)

Helene Fuld College of Nursing also offers an upper division Bachelor of Science degree program for registered nurses. The program focuses on environmental urban health nursing.

The program offers 63 credits in nursing and liberal arts and sciences in its upper division curriculum for a total of 121 credits. The academic calendar is divided into three 15-week semesters per year. Full-time students can complete the program in five semesters (19 months) by attending one day per week or by attending three evenings per week, excluding clinical practicums in the fourth and fifth semesters. Part-time students, carrying a reduced course load, must complete the program within four years.  Classes are admitted annually in September.

Up to 30 semester credits in nursing (lower division) and 44 semester credits in liberal arts and science (including 16 upper division semester credits with a minimum grade of a C+) may be transferred in. A minimum of 47 semester credits must be completed at Helene Fuld College of Nursing, including all 31 upper division semester credits in nursing.
