FACULTY FOR THE LPN TO RN ASSOCIATE DEGREE PROGRAM

Due to expanding enrollment, Helene Fuld College of Nursing, an accredited, associate and bachelor degree granting institution in New York City, is seeking full-time and adjunct faculty for Medical-Surgical Nursing (classroom) and Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing (classroom or clinical). 

All applicants must have a minimum of a Master's degree in nursing or nursing education.  For all positions, relevant teaching experience at the college level is desired, as well as experience working with students from culturally diverse backgrounds. Classes begin in February 2015.

VICE PRESIDENT FOR ACADEMIC AFFAIRS

As the chief academic officer of the College, the Vice President for Academic Affairs is selected and appointed by the President with the approval of the Board of Trustees. The Vice President for Academic Affairs reports to the President, has an active role in student interactions, and works closely with staff and faculty members.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

•    Overseeing the academic affairs of the AAS program, BS program, and embedded programs.
•    Monitoring NCLEX pass rates and creating strategies for improvement through pre- and post-graduation opportunities.
•    Collaborating with faculty and staff on meeting the goals and outcomes of the College's Strategic and Business Plans, including generating strategies for increasing the academic scope and revenue of the College through the expansion of current programs, increasing the efficiency of current procedures, and creating new revenue streams.
•    Teaching in the AAS or BS program.
•    Assisting in the development of admission and recruitment strategies as they relate to enrollment needs, and student performance.
•    Assisting the Director of the Library in his/her efforts to ensure that the Library is meeting faculty and students' needs.
•    Assisting the Director of Student Services in his/her efforts to ensure that Office of Student Services is meeting the College's needs.
•    Creating a quarterly calendar of academic activities for the College.
•    Assisting the Academic Standards Committee in the periodic review of standards and procedures for admissions, promotions, and graduation.
•    Overseeing any continuing education and certification courses.
•    Securing opportunities for faculty and staff development.
•    Attending committee meetings as appropriate.

Skills/Qualifications:

•    The appointee to this position will have a minimum of a master's degree in nursing (doctorate preferred) with experience in a higher education setting.
•    Knowledge of regional and professional accreditation processes and expectations.
•    Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
•    Demonstrated ability to communicate professionally, with clarity and brevity, both orally and in writing.
•    Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively to initiate action, organize projects, solve problems, enhance communication, or improve processes.
•    Ability to handle a variety of individuals and situations in a professional environment with a diplomatic manner. Also the capability to discreetly and confidentially handle sensitive topics and correspondence.
•    Excellent management of time and other resources to meet established goals within agreed upon time frames. This position requires a high degree of integrity and ethics.
•    Must be available to work earlier or later hours as needed. Some travel is required.

DIRECTOR OF THE UPPER DIVISION BACHELOR OF SCIENCE WITH A MAJOR IN NURSING PROGRAM

Primary responsibilities include:

•    Implementing the baccalaureate program, which has a focus on environmental urban health nursing.

•    Maintaining the congruency of each course with the mission, philosophy, educational goals and objectives that have been established by the College.

•    Evaluating the syllabi for all courses, including online technology, ensuring that each course is effective and provides continuity as part of the overall curriculum of the program.

•    Being a liaison to the appropriate accrediting agencies (MSCHE and CCNE), with the support of administration, faculty, and staff.

•    Providing assistance to faculty in the performance of their responsibilities.

•    Evaluating faculty.

•    Teaching selected courses.

•    Ensuring that the academic advisement procedure is meeting students’ needs.

Qualifications/Requirements:

•    A Master’s degree in Nursing. A Doctoral degree in Nursing is preferred.
•    Demonstrated experience teaching and administrating at the baccalaureate degree level.
•    Demonstrated leadership, including fiscal and personnel management experience.
•    Ability to communicate professionally, with clarity and brevity, both orally and in writing.
•    Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively and to handle a variety of individuals and situations.
•    Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
•    Proficiency in online technology, including Blackboard.

PART-TIME INSTITUTIONAL RESEARCHER

The Institutional Researcher is appointed by the President and reports to the Vice President for Academic Affairs. The appointee must have solid understanding of data collection methods, analysis, and dissemination tools. The Institutional Researcher will work closely with staff and faculty members.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

•    Collecting, organizing, preparing, and reporting on College data for federal and state agencies, college surveys, and collegiate and data-sharing consortiums.

•    Providing institutional data and information to internal administrative and academic departments.

•    Performing analyses on surveys and other institutional data, preparing reports, and creating longitudinal compilations of data.

•    Advising, as requested, on surveys conducted by Helene Fuld College departments.

•    Supporting the activities of the College by participating in special projects, maintaining the inventory of essential institutional reports, and contributing to collaborative non-financial data collection work in other areas of the College.

•    Generating coding documentation and/or forms for use in survey data entry.

•    Performing other duties as delegated by the President or Vice President.

Skills/Qualifications:

•    Applicants must have a minimum of a Master’s degree in a relevant discipline, with demonstrated experience in a higher education setting. The appointee must have solid understanding of data collection methods, analysis and dissemination tools, with advanced knowledge of statistical packages.

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT

The administrative assistant will be selected and appointed by the President, to whom he/she will directly report. The appointee to this position will primarily provide ongoing support to the President, Vice President, and directors as needed. The assistant will also have an active role in student interactions and work closely with staff and faculty members.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

•    Welcoming visitors, employees, and students, by greeting them in person or via telephone.

•    Screening and responding to incoming calls and correspondence, responding to mail and email inquiries and providing appropriate responses for the President unless marked “Confidential.”

•    Drafting and/or developing letters, documents, reports, and presentations as requested, and initiating telecommunications for the President and Vice President.

•    Processing and maintaining documentation of employee attendance.

•    Being a liaison between employees and the payroll department regarding all time and attendance discrepancies.

•    Maintaining the appointment schedule for the President and Vice President by planning and scheduling meetings, conferences, teleconferences, and travel.

•    Maintaining sensitive information which necessitates considerable tact, diplomacy, discretion, and judgment.

•    Handling sensitive information in a professional and confidential manner. Referring issues to the appropriate individual. Preparing confidential correspondence.

•    Maintaining efficient filing and tracking systems for the President.

•    Scheduling board, faculty, and other meetings, preparing agendas and pre-meeting materials, and recording minutes. Coordinating meeting rooms and refreshments. Being a liaison with the IT department for technology requests and needs.

•    Securing information by completing data base backups.

Skills/Qualifications:

•    A minimum of five years of related experience. A Bachelor’s degree in Business, English, Journalism, Marketing Communications, or related field preferred.
•    Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook). Minimum typing speed of 60wpm with excellent accuracy.
•    Excellent administrative writing skills (knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar).
•    Ability to communicate professionally, with clarity and brevity, both orally and in writing.
•    Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively to initiate action, organize projects, solve problems, enhance communication, or improve processes. Ability to handle a variety of individuals and situations in a professional environment with a diplomatic manner and pleasant disposition. Also the capability to discreetly and confidentially handle sensitive topics and correspondence.
•    Excellent management of time and other resources to meet established goals within agreed upon time frames. This position requires a high degree of integrity and ethics.
