Course Description
This activity is
designed for nurses to update their knowledge about intravenous therapy
and Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter (PICC) lines. Participants
will be taught the principles of IV therapy in a wide variety of health
care settings. Hands-on training will be provided to gain psychomotor
skills in phlebotomy, perform peripherally inserted venipuncture (PIV),
and monitor vascular access devices (VAD). The knowledge and skills
learned by the participants will enhance their professional practice.
The workshop consists
of a day of lectures, videos, discussion, and hands-on practice in a
nursing arts laboratory. At the completion of the course, participants
will receive a certificate of completion, and will be credited with 6.5
contact hours for completing this course.
